can you speak to the POCUS opportunities available at your programs
Elizabeth Hayes - HUCM MS4
01:06:23
Good evening everyone! Could you speak to the mentoring your residents receive? (formal or informal)
Michael Hu, MS4 Miami
01:06:35
Thanks for having this! How are y'all planning on handling virtual interviews this cycle?
Trisha Josephs
01:07:49
What are programs doing to help residents with their mental health/wellness?
Angela Zhang (She/hers)
01:08:05
Hi! Thanks for taking your evening for this. What structural racism initiatives are you undertaking at your program? For instance, I am curious about countering biological race-based medicine, centering community organizations led by BIPOC, and mitigating the minority tax (as minoritized trainees are often asked to do unpaid work around ED&I)? Thank you!
Tripti Nagar
01:08:15
How much procedural training is involved through your programs? Thank you!

01:08:27
thank you for making this available! could you touch upon LORs for this application cycle?
Suzanne McLaughlin Brown PD
01:08:39
POCUS is built into the IM training, and this year we'll be piloting more in the MedPeds clinic as one of our 2020 graduates will be staying on as a hospitalist and part-time clinic preceptor while completing a fellowship in POCUS through our emergency medicine department
Ronald Magliola PD Metro
01:09:40
For virtual interviews... All programs are working on virtual experiences to ensure that each program's vibe is highlighted and experienced. Programs are really relying on residents to help figure this out. I anticipate both formal and informal sessions.
Waynesha Blaylock
01:10:10
Are residents able to take maternity/paternity leave without extending the length of training? Thank you!
Jennifer Walsh PD UT Southwestern
01:10:31
POCUS also integrated into our IM training for all residents, incorporated into our Dallas global health elective, and residents can choose to do an additional 1 month elective if POCUS also integrated into our IM training for all residents, POCUS also integrated into our IM traiing for all residents, incorporated into our Dallas global health elective, and residents can choose to do an additional 1 month elective if desired.

For parental/family leave -- the board requirements for IM and Pediatrics are somewhat limiting for "time-off". At Brown, there is the possibility of a month's absence and then we build more flexible rotations to allow for other spacing. I had two children during residency here, so definitely possible...somewhat tiring, but well worth it!
Jaclyn Albin, UTSW APD
01:13:27
In academic medicine, there is an important distinction between advising, mentoring, and sponsoring. All residents will have advisors assigned, and sometimes these people become mentors, as well. Other times, mentors emerge through connections with advisors or organically from the opportunities for residents to pursue their interests and passions in an individualized way.

What is the attitude toward Couples Matching in your respective programs?
Jessica Gonzalez (FSUCOM, MS4)
01:16:37
Hi everyone, do you have any advice for those of us who are couple's matching? My husband is applying EM and his specialty is capping interviews this year. Do your programs have regional preferences. Thank you for sharing your time with us!

Hi! Question to the NMPRA leaders, I can’t find the link to the recorded URM session, since it’s being mentioned. Is it online? I see the session listed under webinars but not as a clickable link.
Suzanne McLaughlin Brown PD
01:27:08
Thank you for asking the question about initiatives to address structural racism. Also apologize for leaving that waiting - but alot to be said about it and just "saying" is clearly not enough. So although brief, I'll offer some of Brown's initiatives, which include a strong voice of Brown Minority Housestaff Association, the dedicated fellowship (open to students, residents and faculty) Brown Advocates for Social Change and Equity, and initiatives within the Department of Medicine for Bias Reduction in Internal Medicine, and the Department of Pediatric's dedicated Diversity Officer. Is it enough? clearly not - but you can't stop trying. Next step will be more explicit connections between the residency programs here and the state Dept of Health and their community efforts and their health equity zones - we've had initial meetings, but haven't finalized what that will look like within the training years.
