PRCHN Seminar: Local Policies and Interventions to Address Diet-Related Health Disparities
Presented By: Dr. Caitin Caspi, ScD
Dr. Caspi will discuss several local policy actions and community-led health interventions centered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that are meant to address health outcomes such as food insecurity, diet quality, and weight outcomes. She will include a discussion of rigorous evaluations of the Staple Foods Ordinance, the Minimum Wage Ordinance, and efforts to improve the charitable food system. This presentation will be addressed in the context of current social and policy events.

Caitlin Caspi, ScD, evaluates policies and interventions addressing the social determinants of health, particularly food insecurity, diet, and obesity. She completed her doctorate at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota. She currently resides in Connecticut, where she grew up. She serves as the Principal Investigator on two NIH-funded studies, one in the charitable food system and the other is evaluating an upstream local minimum wage policy’s effects on diet-related outcomes.
