Shifting the Food System to Achieve Nutrition Equity
Presented by Dr. Darcy Freedman. The food system is shaped by the values we hold and, in turn, regulates the rate at which justice is achieved through actions of the food system. This presentation will provide a complex systems framework for setting nutrition equity as a core value to guide local food systems work in racialized urban communities.  This framework was developed using a participatory system dynamic modeling approach. We will then review strategies for translating values of freedom, hope, and dignity into community-driven actions aimed at improving economic opportunity, food security, fair access to fresh and healthy foods, and holistic health among people and communities.
